Durango Salsa Festival is a fundraiser for non-profit organizations that advance multiculturalism and serve Durango's Latino/Hispanic community. [read more...]

Expect a fun-filled, one-day event featuring salsa music and dance, chips (from Chip Peddler) and salsa and other great food, vendor booths, demonstrations and mini-workshops, and a special area for kids to create and have their own fun.

Strut your home-made salsa at the Durango Salsa Festival and compete for fun and prizes! There are divisions for amateur and professional salsa makers, and categories for red, green and artisan salsas. Check out the guidelines below, and download guidelines and registration forms here.

Time: 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Check-in

11:00 a.m. Gates open to the public

Entry deadline September 15. Pre-registration is required.
Space is limited; register early!
Entry fee must accompany entry forms.
Sorry, no refunds if you are accepted and decide not to compete.

One gallon of fresh salsa should be brought to the festival already made. Use of fresh and canned ingredients is acceptable, though we encourage the use of locally grown produce. "Doctoring" a ready-made, purchased salsa is not acceptable. Entrants are invited (but not required) to stay and dispense their salsa to festival-goers until the People's Choice judging is complete, or until all salsa is gone.

Judges will review entries based on aroma, consistency, color, appropriate heat level, taste and after-taste. Festival-goers will also taste competitors' salsa and cast their vote for people's choice award.

Select a division, category and level of heat. You may enter multiple salsas, but each requires a separate entry form and fee.
